Why four believable answers beat a trivia question
Plenty of lists of these questions ask things you could read off a form: a birthday, a middle name, the hand someone writes with. Getting those right proves you were told once. It doesn’t start a conversation, and missing one starts an awkward one.
A good question has four answers that could all be them, so a wrong guess is a small argument instead of a failure. “Cereal, standing up” against “cheese, with the light off” is a real disagreement about who someone is at midnight. That’s why every card in the game comes with something to talk about, and why the score is a picture and not a percentage.
